You’re working hard to expand your parish’s social media presence; the easiest way is to teach your followers to choose see first in Facebook. When someone decides to “follow” your page, they are presented with a drop-down menu where they can choose to either see your posts in the “default” position in their news feed, or they can choose the “see first” option.
By choosing the “see first” option, new parish posts will greet your parishioners at the top of their news feeds when they login to Facebook…which means they’ll see your uplifting Catholic content first! (This also gets you around the issue of Facebook’s ever-changing News Feed algorithim.) By publishing this tip in your bulletin, on Facebook itself, and mentioning it in conversation with parishioners, you can be certain members of your community won’t miss a thing. Here’s a screenshot to help direct you:
It’s a simple enough fix that you can mention it in casual conversation:
Parishioner: “Hey, why don’t I see the parish’s content all the time?”
You: “Oh, that’s because of Facebook’s News Feed settings. It’s really easy to choose see first in Facebook. Here’s how…”
You’re not just increasing your number of followers – you’re ensuring your current follower have meaningful interactions with your content on a daily basis.
